HISTORY

"The first horses were born in Le Budrie in 1931", so Count Paolo wrote in his race first book preface about the Orsi Mangelli's Breeding.

About those times we would like to remember the sport-loving, the passion and the technical know-how that Count Paolo Orsi Mangelli devoted to trotters horses breeding. He traced a qualitfiyng and a selected way that made the Italian breeding history during the years, and he created and reinforced a black-garnet tradition that still survives. 

At the beginning  Count Paolo, helped by his son Orsino, started with Le Budrie's breeding for stallions, opened the wonderful Anzola's estate  equipping it with the best raw material he found on the national and international market.

From ’33 to ’37 came from  the USA the best mares and sires that made the Orsi Mangelli races history and his victories on tracks.

In those years Etrusco, Dama, Floridoro, Impavido, Loreto, Mistero, Rialto, Unico won their "Derby ".

De Sota e Mighty Ned, a.k.a. "the good giant", both won twice the Prix d’Amerique. This victory was also gained  by the great  Mistero, the only italian horse who reached this goal; the year after he won the Prix de Paris.

The Count Paolo black-garnet  colors were always protagonists where there were great competitions. Year after year the Orsi Mangelli 's alphabet run and brought on tracks horses like Crevalcore, a.k.a. "the great moor", Tornese, Vestone, Gualdo, Guiglia, Liri, Irunda, Navazzo, Tedo, Buganda, Croazia, Ceox, Gendarme, until the last products like Fenech OM, Golden OM, Lancaster OM, Metello OM, Oxa OM, Profumo OM, Piacere OM, Tisserant OM, Ucla OM, Valentino OM, Zucchero OM, Arkansas OM and Almahurst OM.

A long history of horses and men, a tradition that lasted for 70 years with passion, concreteness and a continue research for the best. Orsi Mangelli's breeding characterized itself for a periodic modernization of its equipments and of  breeding techniqes, a great professionality of  its staff  and the recent acquisition of mares and sires like  Baltic Speed and Armbro Goal which rapresent the best american blood in this moment. Waikiki Beach, another well-known stallion bred in Le Budrie, was Varenne's sire, one of the maximum trotter in mondial races. 

Nowadays Le Budrie's breeding, the Anzola's estate, the black-garnet colors, are rapresented by enthusiasm and passion of the Countess Barbara Orsi Mangelli and the Marquis Paolo Dal Pozzo D’Annone. They always are looking for new targets to improve their own stud farm and italian trot.
